Service Description
Trigger Point Injections are a simple and effective treatment used to relieve muscle pain and tension. A “trigger point” is a tight knot in your muscle that can cause pain in one area or even refer pain to other parts of your body. During the procedure, a small amount of medication — usually a local anesthetic, sometimes with a small amount of anti-inflammatory medicine — is gently injected into the tight muscle. This helps the muscle relax, improves blood flow, and reduces pain. Trigger point injections are often used to treat: Chronic muscle pain (neck, shoulders, back, or hips) Tension headaches or migraines related to muscle tension Myofascial pain syndrome (muscle pain that doesn’t improve with rest) Most people feel relief soon after the injection, and it can help make physical therapy and stretching more effective. The procedure is quick, usually takes just a few minutes, and can be done right in the office. This requires a physical exam and a Home Visit Add-On to properly assess prior to injections. If there is no indications for trigger point injections upon exam, the provider can decide not to inject for the safety of the patient. There can be no areas of open skin, or infection to the area of concern.
